Important Days Ahead
Humans tend to categorize things by large or small, bright or dull, special or ordinary, and so on. We like to bring order and structure, but sometimes our efforts to place things into neat little slots can blind us to the little moments of joy we could be experiencing every day. For instance, we categorize holidays as special with the implication that other days have nothing going for them. We need to reorient our thinking. Now, I'm not saying that we shouldn't celebrate holidays. Far from it. I'm saying we should celebrate the importance of every day. Think about it. There is no such thing as an unimportant day. It doesn't take much thought to come up with a reason to celebrate the coming of each new day. Consider all the things that will happen today. Babies will be born...TODAY. An entrepreneur will create a dream organization...TODAY. Birds and butterflies will spread joy, fly north or south...TODAY. Somewhere old wounds heal, new friendships begin. A puppy finds a master...a mother whispers secrets to a wide-eyed child...sunshine follows the clouds...TODAY! It's all about your attitude toward the new day. So, welcome each new sunrise as a portent of great things to come. What can you do to make this an important day for yourself or someone you care about? Accepting Change Well I've finally done it...I turned my heat on. After shouting at the kids that it's not cold and making them dress like they are outside, I turned on the heat in the house. I finally gave in when I couldn't feel my fingers anymore while typing and the cat, Bogey, was sitting next to the desk sneezing continuously. I started thinking, hmmm he has fur and he's cold. Living your dreams. Living free from fear and worry. You have the power to live your life any way you want. Surrounding Yourself With Positive Energy Our lives are busy. We rush here only to remember we were supposed to rush there. It seems like there is never enough time to be had. We all wish for longer days only so we can pack them even fuller with the things we think are important. But, what we really need is to surround ourselves with positive energy. Instead of worrying and fretting over one thing or another, you can instead be thinking of good things. What can this do for you? The Power of Negative Thinking For some reason, most people find it easier to think in a negative way than in a positive manner. It seems that some effort is needed to think positive thoughts, whereas negative thinking comes easily and uninvited. Develop your appreciation of beauty ? that is heightening your sensitivity to beauty such as in great art or wonders in nature. The most important of all these type of experiences is the love we feel toward each other. To love another and to demonstrate this to such an extent as to allow your beloved to develop ? and by doing this we will find that we develop meaning ourselves. Love is the highest purpose to which we can aspire. Failure is Celebration Time Failure is my favorite subject. For I have spent my life failing. My failures have not been once in a lifetime affaire. They have been too numerous even to begin listing them here. Let me brag a bit more. My failures have never been ordinary failures. Whenever I failed, I was literally on the street not knowing where my next meal would come from. Creating an Emotional Retreat Emotions have the tendency to take over our actions and reactions, despite the fact we prefer to claim otherwise. Society often sees emotions as a sign of weakness, so we became used to putting them away and try to focus on the logical aspects more and more. But no matter how strict and rational you desire to be, you will always be a human being, instead of a robot, and so you will always have feelings. As humans, we tend to be harder on ourselves than others are. A small child learning to walk never fails to get up and try and try and try until success is achieved.
